Freestyle Rap and Comedy
together at last
Macshane’s journey with freestyle rap became a personal quest for mastery, driving him to constantly push his limits across diverse settings. He quickly began collaborating with DJs in genres like Drum and Bass, Dubstep, and Electronic music, refining his versatility in front of larger audiences at iconic Perth venues such as Metro City, Ambar, Villa, and Capitol. His performances became increasingly interactive, as he embraced the art of crafting spontaneous verses, whether it was with live jazz bands or freestyling at festivals. His ability to engage the crowd by rapping about anything they presented enhanced his appeal as a performer. Macshane’s unique talent, which he referred to as his “magic trick”—effortlessly turning any object, word or topic into a flawless rhyme—became his signature, solidifying his reputation as a highly skilled and adaptable freestyle artist.
Macshane took his freestyle talents to a new level with the debut of his standalone freestyle comedy rap show, Attention Deficit Rap Disorder, at Perth’s FringeWorld. This show became the ultimate playground for audiences to put Macshane’s rap skills and creativity to the test. It offered a unique, interactive platform where the crowd could suggest complex and often outlandish scenarios, challenging Macshane to navigate them in character, stay on topic, and deliver spontaneous, witty rhymes. The format blended his razor-sharp freestyling with improvised comedy, resulting in a highly entertaining and impressive performance that showcased both his lyrical prowess and comedic timing. Attention Deficit Rap Disorder quickly became a hit, earning a 4 and a half star review, cementing Macshane’s reputation as a dynamic performer capable of creating hilarious, on-the-spot content that kept audiences engaged and laughing.
